Komodomotion

Last night before bedtime Nova decided that he just HAD to know all about komodo dragons. Every few days he flashes on a subject from recent or past and has to, right then, attain extensive knowledge on that subject. Some of his past fascinations are, in no certain order, The Great Wall of China, India and its languages, Portuguese, Brazil, Fish(seahorses), Why the Oceans are salty, What makes it rain, the earth's core, fairies and other mythical creatures, mathematics, robotics(Furby inspired), atoms and molecules, frogs and their anatomy (mainly, do frogs have ears), bluebirds and different bird calls, and a great deal more.

I, being the fantastic mother I am, usually indulge him with accurate and very scientific information. If I don't know anything about the subject we find some website that has interactive games, tutorials, and more pictures than you can shake a stick at. I'm finding that Youtube is a great resource for just about anything as long as you have the time and love to be sidetracked. Our goal was to find footage of the "Great Komodo Dragon" Which we did, but then ended up viewing the ugliest human on earth, the best basketball dribbler history has ever seen, a weird photoshopped anomaly of something half human and half cat that seemed to be singing but left me, overall, feeling like I needed to take a shower, and finally a slideshow of some of the cutest teacup chihuahuas set to one animal lovers soundtrack entitled, what else? CHIHUAHUA. But said like you'd say TE-QUI-LAAAA!

HEY!

Speaking of sidetracked...

So, we watched the mighty komodo, also it seems, spelled, kimodo by some, devour a deer, fight a python, take a poop, vomit, and finally fight another komodo dragon. It appeared that they were both very angry over something or just taking a couples waltzing class but given the fact that they both had two left feet, or just large scaly feet, they couldn't compromise on who would lead. After a few minutes of this awkward tussle, they settle calmly down next to a pool of water surrounded by rocks. The male komodo slowly begins to work his way up onto the females back. I, for some Godforsaken reason, begin to hear Barry White playing in my head...

I've heard people say that

Too much of anything is not good for you, baby

Oh, No

But I don't know about that

My son's eyes are getting as big as saucers. The male is doing this little naughty hip wiggle as the female sinks back a tad to allow a smoother transition. Now I don't know about you all, but I'm not ready for this conversation with my seven year old. Nova looks at us with a helpless look on his face:

"What are they doing?"

His Dad casually replies,

"they're mating."

For once I'm thankful my son doesn't always hear things the first time.

"What, what did you say, Dad?"

I interject as I look back at his dad, "nothing, it's nothing."

His dad, again, to the rescue with the proper answer "they're mating."

Luckily, I managed to drown him out with my hysteric,

"nothingit'snothingit'snothing!"

Finally Kelly catches on as Nova continues to inquire,

"MA-OOOM, stop IT! WHat Did YOu Say DAD?"

"I said, they're waiting...WAIT-ING. Komodo dragons get sick of waiting for their food, so they get bored and fight and then relax to wait. No one likes waiting."

At this Nova quieted down and I quickly clicked the mouse...

CHI-HUAHUA!

Well, HELLOO!

Kate-

Nice that you stumbled in here. It's interesting to hear from people because I never really thought anyone would read. I was hoping to keep my family informed and let some of my friends know how I was doing or what my thought processes were like these days. I love hearing women say that they will be SAHMs also. It's going to be interesting to see if there's a shift back to that after the direction our country is taking. I think feminism created this huge divide amongst women. The reality is that we SHOULD have choices and earning power equal to men's. I think there is something amazing and inspiring about the many different choices women are making and I want to see each woman supported for her individual decision (and not all of us get to make a decision, that's a factor too). Just from the short time I've spent around you I think you will be an excellent mom! You've got the spunk and positivity that help to see you through the most difficult times. Thanks for delurking!::wildy waving back:::

hello

Hey, Sara's future sister-in-law Kate here. I stumbled across your blog last night and found that not only are your children really interesting (as I've witnessed myself the two times that I've met them), so are you (which was also quite apparent). I ended up reading all of your entries and found them both inspiring (I had already had my mind set on being at stay-at-home mom when the time comes) and ....... I can't find the right word for that spot, but I'll explain it by saying that the posts in which you are frustrated at one thing or another are very familiar to me in that I can identify with them to whatever degree a yet-to-be-mom could. Anyway, I figured the polite thing to do would be to stop lurking and identify myself. ::waves:: ^_^
